I create memories in paint. I make a visual collection in my mind, and they are a collaboration of things I’ve seen, things I’ve been ruminating about but mostly things that have caught my attention because they're beautiful, ordinary, or both! I seldom plan what to paint other than possibly using a starting point of a visual reference, sometimes I’m just reacting intuitively to the bodily feeling of distilling these thoughts. With my stored visual notes, I work to make them into painted stories with imagination, colour, texture, line and shape. It’s an unravelling, a purge and a discovery all at the same time. Our memories often become shared stories, they are sacred to us all.
