My paintings are an intuitive burst of creativity, imagination and expression.
Throughout my life I have always been creative. But when I started painting abstractly it felt like I had landed on solid ground. I have found my voice and I am quietly shouting.
I love an empty canvas - the physical feeling of applying smooth paint and filling it with 'noise' is so satisfying. I hold on to what I've noticed, what I've felt in a moment and I paint that. I am a hoarder. I take photos and respond to what has caught my attention. I intuitively conjure these into shapes, textures and colours on my surface and create a visual layered collage of it all.
My regular walks and travels have allowed me to appreciate natural organic shapes that change dramatically with the unstoppable flow of each season, I often notice these natural forms in juxtaposition with man made structures and admire them positioned together. I paint an interpretation, my response to the feeling of these powerful sights.
